You re never too old to learn to surf. The Polynesians began the sacred ritualistic sport here more than 500 years ago.
Maybe even more popular than sunset beach would be the banzai pipeline and Waimea Bay. When the wind is right and the swell is from the northwest usually presents the best conditions for this beach. It's much safer and much more rewarding.
It takes time to master the sport of surfing, but with the right instruction it can be easier than you think. Rash guard shirts were yet another great addition to a surfer s arsenal. Your instructor will be able to give you basic lessons on how to surf, and they will be watching you during your learning process and giving you pointers on what is keeping you from catching those waves or any other problems you may have with getting the hang of it.
